Monte Carlo Masters Stringers

Tecnifibre is once again the official stringer of the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters and this year, displays its new identity as a guarantee of quality of service offered to the players.
Below is a transcript of a recent interview with Stephane Chrzanovski, the team leader of Tecnifibre stringers

Stephane, how many years have you been stringing on Monte Carlo Masters?

We are now in our 11th year! And even if the service has evolved, we have always been a team of 5 stringers on the tournament, and I can tell you we do not get bored!

Have players' demands evolved during these 11 years?

I will say that there is more requirement on the speed of the execution of the stringing service. We are now very often asked for an express service (1 / 2h or 1h max to string a racket)

It is therefore more complicated in terms of organization, it is necessary to organize and anticipate these requests from players who often ask for this treatment, for example in a match.

Do you have in mind specific requests for racket preparation, from the players?

Sometimes we do more than just stringing, for sure. For Arneodo, for example, we had to cut open the racket to extract a piece of graphite that had gone inside the frame. We removed the dirt and the butt cap, a real racquet dissection, a surgical operation.

We also do case-by-case optimization: we have some requests to add some pads, (leather tips in the heart of the racket) that absorb vibrations and give more power.

In the same spirit of customization, some players ask us to deform the frame of the racket to have a more elongated or rounded shape. In order to do that, we place the racket differently in the machine to give it the desired shape.

Our stringing service is really structured and professional, and this must be reflected on our stand which must look like our service to the players: faultless.

And in terms of tension requested by the players?

It's impressive, it goes from 12kg sometimes up to 30kg.

And you have to be very careful because the tension which you put in changes the length of the string used.

If we tend to 12kg for example, we don’t stretch the string at all, and therefore we must provide a meter of additional string compared to a high tension. Otherwise, you have to start all over again ...

Tecnifibre has changed its graphic identity this year and Monte Carlo is the first tournament where this new identity is expressed. What do you think of the "new look" of the stringing service?

I think it brings more class to our service by keeping the technical aspect.

Our stringing service is really structured and professional, and this must be reflected on our stand which must look like our service to the players: faultless.

As we are all white now, it's perfect: an immaculate service 😊

And the new logo in the string, which replaces the historic triangle?

We were used to the triangle, but it wasn’t that much of a shock. But it's true that this new stencil is more linked with the brand and its own identity.
