Daria Kasatkina – Breath of fresh air

Born in Tolyatti, a city close to Moscow, in May 1997, Daria Kasatkina is now already part of the WTA Top10. What is the next step for the young Russian star?


After testing tennis for the first time at the age of 6, she started being coached at 11, in 2008. 
Fully passioned by her sport, she joined Tecnifibre Team in 2011, at only 14 years old, despite her numerous injuries, that slow down her progression.


She started her professional career in 2013, and within a year, jumped 300 ranking positions. 
The best performance at this time for Daria was to win the Junior French Open at the age of 17, to jump into the spotlights!

The big step

One year after, she reached her first main draw in a Senior Grand Slam.
Lucky Loser in qualifications, she finally made it and made it to the third round to earn comfort and self-confidence. She is now full part of the WTA Tour!


This step made a huge change in Daria’s career, as you can see in her results :

  • ¼ finals at the Olympics at 18 years old
  • Winner at Charleston, her first WTA title, at 19
  • 1st victory on a ranked #1 in the world (Kerber) at 19
  • 1st final in a Premier Mandatory Event (Indian Wells) at 20
  • Title "at home" in Moscow at 21
  • She has also beaten all the 2017/2018 Grand Slam winners on the Tour, showing her ability to level up her game in tough matches


Ranked #370 at the WTA in 2014, she is now the #1 female player in Russia, member of the Top10, and doesn’t want to stop her progression now! 
Nicknamed “Kasatik”, she is also a huge fan of football and particularly of FC Barcelona, whose logo is featured on her racquet!
