Tecnifibre player Emi Mutaguchi from Japan celebrated her maiden ITF circuit title on the
grass courts of the Oudh Gymhana Club’s
tennis complex, Lucknow, over the weekend.
Emi also took the doubles title at this event,
after partnering India’s Nidhi Chilumula.
Emi Mutaguchi recently signed a multi year
agreement with the Japanese agency for
Tecnifibre earlier this month.
Emi is currently fighting her way up the WTA
rankings after a solid performance on the
ITF junior circuit up until 2011 and a year
plagued by injuries in 2012.
Emi spoke happily of her first ever title:
“Wow! my first singles title. I flew out to India
on my own from Japan hoping for the best.
Let’s say that winning both the singles and
doubles is mission accomplished!
It is also my first tournament playing with Tecnifibre rackets so it makes the victories even
sweeter. Thank you for all the support and believing in me. I hope to carry on this good run at
my next tournaments.”
